Brazilian music festivals are the roots of DJ Marjo Lak's career, inspired by the collective celebration that is dance. Marjo has eclectic tastes and plays a full range of music, from tech house to Brazilian pop to jazz and beyond. In 2001, Marjo created a tech house music collective with some friends, called "Butter Music Brazil," that became one of the leading underground party scenes in the country.
Since moving to California’s North Coast, Marjo has become well known in the Humboldt scene. Marjo initiated SUMMERTRONICA, the first all electronic music tent, at the 30-year-running Mateel Summer Arts & Music Festival in Benbow, CA and is a member of the long-standing DJ collective, Deep Groove Society. She and her husband created Fraktal Productions in 2015 to introduce renowned musical artists to eager local audiences.
Most recently, Marjo has shared her music and passion at festivals across the West Coast, Brazil, and Europe. Through it all, DJ Marjo Lak was able to do what she loves best: spreading her love of electronic music with new audiences locally and internationally.
Give a Beat, Southern Humboldt Community Park, CASA, and Standing Rock are just a few of the causes and organizations she supports.
“I trust and believe [Give a Beat] is a cause that helps change teens’ lives by connecting them to music and art!”
